South Carolina can be divided into physical regions, as shown in the picture above. A physical region is an area that has the same kinds of physical features. Landforms are shapes on the land, such as mountains and rivers. South Carolina has six physical regions. The regions include the Coastal Zone, Outer Coastal Plain, Inner Coastal Plain, Sandhills, Piedmont, and Blue Ridge region.
